Teacher Qualification Service Regulation Change

The TQS has added a new regulation (see below).  Teachers in TQS category four (4) or lower that hold an acceptable master's degree or doctorate will qualify for minimum of TQS category five (5).

Who should apply: Any applicant that is in TQS categories four (4), three (3), two (2) or one (1) and currently holds an acceptable master's or doctorate should apply for an upgrade.
Who should not apply: Teachers who are currently in TQS category five (5) or category six (6).  This change does not affect teachers who are currently in either of these categories.
How to apply: Submit an application for upgrade on our website (www.tqs.bc.ca).  In the schooling details indicate Regulation Change Master's degree.  Include verification of current employment in the BC public school system (most applicants photocopy a pay stub).  Once you receive your new TQS card, show it to your school district to change your compensation.

TQS regulation 2.01-5f states that all applicants holding an acceptable graduate degree and valid BC public school teaching certificate will be placed into a minimum of TQS category five.
