Regulations - Request an Appeal

Following a Director's Review, if you are not satisfied with the decision of the Director regarding your category assignment, you may appeal that decision to the TQS Board.  The appeals process is based on TQS Regulation 8.00.  The Board's role is to judge if the Director has interpreted the TQS Regulations correctly.

What you need to request an appeal:

  1. A letter clearly marked "Appeal," directed to the Chair, Teacher Qualification Board, at the Teacher Qualification Service office, detailing the grounds on which the appeal is based
  2. Any new information or documents not available during previous evaluation which may aid in the appeal
  3. Proof of Employment (must currently be employed in the public school system, "not seeking")

Please note that an appeal will not proceed until proof of employment in the BC public school system has been provided.

Upon receipt of a complete appeal, it will be placed on the next TQS Board meeting, which meets regularly five times a calendar year.  Following the Board's consideration of the appeal, the Chair of the Board will advise the appellant of the Board's decision and the reasons for it.
